Supernova is our signature annual fundraising event that brings together the entire BASIS DC community for an unforgettable evening of connection, celebration, and purpose! This isn't just another fundraiser—it's our opportunity to come together as one school family while supporting the exceptional educational experience our children deserve.

It's a chance to take home unique treasures while supporting our shared mission in a meaningful way.

Why Your Support Matters

The Boosters' Mission

While BASIS DC is a tuition-free public charter school, we receive less funding per student than traditional DC public schools. This gap means that without additional support, we'd miss out on the resources that make our educational experience truly exceptional.

That's where the Boosters come in. We are the BASIS DC Boosters, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization run entirely by dedicated parent volunteers. Our mission is simple but powerful: to enhance collaboration between families and school leadership while building the vibrant community that makes BASIS DC special.

Every dollar raised through Supernova directly supports:


  • Student Enrichment (1/3 of funds): Classroom resources, special programs, and experiences that enhance learning
  • Faculty Support (1/3 of funds): Professional development, classroom supplies, and recognition programs for our incredible teachers
  • Community Building (1/3 of funds): Events like Supernova that strengthen the bonds within our school family

In 2025, Supernova raised $60,000—funds that were managed independently by the Boosters and separate from the school's corporate operations. All contributions go directly to the "Boost Fund," our community-controlled resource that ensures every dollar supports our unique school experience.
